Location: 1100 Chapline Street Wheeling, WV

History: The construction of this building began in 1913 and was completed in 1915. It was specifically constructed for the YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association), which was organized in Wheeling in 1906. Today the building serves as Wheeling’s YWCA headquarters with offices, rooms for programming, a women’s residence, emergency homeless shelter and a women’s boutique.

Brownfield Issue: Asbestos. The building is scheduled to have a large renovation but before this can be done, it first must be assessed for asbestos.
